Salvatore Malorgio has got a real gift for painting. That’s why he has never neglected painting placing it side by side to his daily activity. It is curious, dynamic, impatient, dreamer. He loves his homeland, the region of Puglia and his thoughts go through it, grabbing its foreshortenings with his brush and with his heart, crossing the difficult road of life, walking towards a great reality, more and more personal. The nature is lived and people, his people, are animate by his same passion; landscape is the innocence of life and the sunset it is not the end, and the characters leave peaceful nostalgias in Malorgio’s heart and he analysis their moods, their anxieties, their joys and their fears in a story that has the taste, the accent of a lovely fairy tale of his country. In the green fields, Salvatore Malorgio talks to the red hot sunsets, to the dawns and nighttime beams, to the sea or lake landscapes, to the boats and cane fields: simple words, that belong to him in every tone, marvellous because marvellous is the nature in the early-morning light, in the prelude of the evening or in the deep night. Marvellous above all when it talks to the beggar or to the gypsies, to the young girl or to the fisherman or to the old farmer of Salento, becoming beside painter, columnist and writer. All depends on the states of mind of the moment and his gestual expressiveness becomes neorealistic, his vivacious palette gets a chromatic and harmonious impasto that let everybody think to an out of time, ancient and rural loneliness.

« In Salvatore Malorgio’s paintings and graphics don't exist signs and understandings without meaning. The points of equilibrium and formal description complete, in his works, the truthful sense of his understanding and poetical nostalgias. Moreover, his memorial returns, expressed with image and colour, define emotional stories and they visually show, with the delicacy of his way of painting, the represented reality.  The clear, short and sharp, fluent and light Malorgio’s graphic lines appear, from time to time, wrapped in tender appearances.  Completed by soft and warm colouristic harmonies, able to communicate even alone, without rests of narration and useless dispersions, all the melancholies of this timid painter come from the South.  His water-colours, as they are conceived, precise and reasoned in the inventions and in the expressive meanings, emanate by their naturalness and transparent composition scents of fresh grass. Calls. Vicissitudes. Apparently forgotten memories.  Memories that even complete theirselves, graphic signs and colours, in the infinitesimal details and in the visual immediateness of the southern landscape so full of light and of blue that instinctively takes to a continuous dreaming. With his manger houses gathered together. The telegraph poles with thin wires. The walls of stones consumed by the time. Slices of open and bright countries.  Malorgio’s visual way of telling, his feelings, the internal palpitations of his way to describe using images find the essentiality in the humanistic definition of the characters seen in every-day life.  And that are peasants, having frugal meals, working, waiting in the boundless loneliness of the countries. Return home. Hoping. Sometimes dreaming. So like unlucky vagabonds, stopped by signs and colours, miserable in their poverty. Solitary but innocent. And with no other hope but the last consummation in their perennial loneliness.  Oil-colours, water-colours, china-inks and pastel-colours of Salvatore Malorgio, an artist sensitive to the problems of the human being and ready to listen to the breath of nature, talk about the reality fading away into poetry, through images, nostalgia by nostalgia, memory by memory, loneliness by loneliness.,Poetry that becomes colour».

... Salvatore Malorgio is the typical experimental artist, with extraordinary cleverness, using countless artistic techniques: oil, temper, china-ink, water-colour, pastel colour and mixed techniques, in which he transfuses the reality of the every day man, the real man, the sincere man, worthy of this name, the man that doesn't wear a mask and show what he really is.  In Malorgio’s opinion, a man wearing a mask is a non-sense, he doesn't inspire anything, he is not worthy of his attention. An other important characteristic of this painter is the precise sign, the particular one, the expressive sense of the light, the shade, the depth penetrating into the represented characters.  ... Malorgio is a talentful artist, able to combine, with exceptional perfection, line, colour, form and composition."  With the works he has created in over thirty years of fertile artistic activity, he has brought in the North the artistic expression of the South of Italy, of his land of Puglia He is an autodidact but I can say that he is an artist with an exceptional perfection of line, colour, form and composition, worthy of a true professional. He expresses himself and creates his works without any conditioning, he paints only if intimately inspired, and in the freedom of expression, the artist intimately feels himself satisfied, succeeding in giving form and colour to his creations.

«... the favourite subjects and the alive colours, make some Malorgio’s painting a real song of nature and to life, singfull-throated popular song; suitable to an artistic form, come out from a constant autodidactic application, that reminds in each moment the fundamental and essential purpose of art, which is to embellish and cheer the existence».

”To paint is to love again”, Henry Miller says. And it is true. But love what? And how? All, deeply. And what is painting? It’s thousand of different things for different individuals.  Salvatore Malorgio has been painting  for a long time perhaps, even if his greater devotion came out a little more than thirty years ago.   For who, like him, has come from the south, has been impossible not to decant in his paintings the landscape and the images of his land. These elements have been proposed by his works until yesterday, underlining colours and moods, the nostalgic call and the poetry of the places, in the attempt to tell his states of mind, peculiar but common. Just because with them he wants to underline the best and more ancient values of our existence, forced in the violence everyday life. Now, not only with oils, but also with china ink, water-colours, and mixed techniques he proposes closer landscapes, also here underlining "round the corner" foreshortenings and stray characters, whose matrixes, respectively superficial and deceptively out of time, are both signals of truthful values, in the troubling nowadays reality. Only the bloody nudes seem to alternate, and still poetically, this sincere and genuine lyricism of his, as the various way to alternate of his palette. The wrinkles of the burnt earth and the tried faces, oppose with the soft lines of the female body, and, together with the trees, so similar and so different between a place to another, are all equal signals of a same horizon; toward which the projection of life is to be found even if in danger, bound forever in the adventure, but with the potential salvation in the poetic intuition, which seems really not to get out of this painting development.

Salvatore Malorgio of Tuglie (Lecce), but Lombard of adoption, stays bound to his native countries and in his pictures he shows the environmental atmosphere that is always dear to him with spontaneity and with a vivacious and colourful palette. Autodidactic painter, Malorgio, with perseverant commitment, finds the way to reflect in his pictures a particular world with a technique and an ability that countersign him and distinguish him from the modern pictorial creation.  It is really pleasant to come close to an artist able to produce honest and sincere works, wishing to take part of his clear landscapes. The pictorial effect is made remarkable by the impressive deep and full colour, vibrating and harmonized by poetical delicacy. Nature in the warmest and happiest visions binds him, and our artist appears desirous to attack it in her essence and more fascinating moments such as dawns and sunsets. Will and impetuousness express theirselves in a colour that seems never to be enough to himself, that quivers through the use of the brush and the spatula, giving us a plastic effect to establish its own innate vitality. An impression of energy results of it, of strong interpretation of the beautiful not without poetical delicacy, rich of feeling and penetration. Malorgio is so original and able to give us diffused and bright beams, to let us taste the unmistakable characteristics of his land of Puglia in its more fascinating aspects, filtering the light that rains on the sea, on the hills, on the flat country of a happy land where the almond trees bloom in February, the olives become gigantic, where the fog doesn't exist and the sun  prevails in every season. With natural abandonment, Malorgio succeeds in gathering and perhaps interpreting the beautiful with charming images, for us unusual but fortunately still visible and admirably drawn back by the hand of an artist.

Salvatore Malorgio loves the seriousness of the Italian secular art of which he feeds himself and in which he expresses himself.  Some paintings of his, " Old farmer of Salento", "The old man and the dog ", are essentially memories and they reflect traditions of faith and humanity summarized in the poverty of people that know how to wait and to hope.     Sensitive autodidactic, Malorgio succeeds in doing what he feels and thinks, snatching, in the onsets of nature, what fascinates him, bringing it happily in his promising paintings…………..

Salvatore Malorgio, present on the scene of the artistic world for over thirty years and present in the last review in Livorno for the assignment of the " Trophy of the Region Tuscany 2003 " with four important works, the good artist, very prepared artistically, continues his climbing in the difficult world of the Fine Arts. His painting strikes in a positive way the careful visitor, it is a symbiosis of human, spiritual and aesthetical values that constitute the dominant note of his painting, engaged in the river bed of a complete figuration, and perfectly balanced under every profile, in which contents objective and internal creative motivations are dearly melted, signs in the unequivocal one, intense share of the artist to the problem list of his time.              In this painting we find wide and original position, as the characters and the landscape find in his art, not as an ispiration of conventional reference, but as an inalienable push for a sincere message, warm of authentic feeling. With a strong sense of introspection, in his works Malorgio makes live again the disturbances, the melancholies, the intimate joys of the mind, the pains of everyday life and sometimes inserts the characters as in the work entitled " Old age and loneliness ", that have the taste of a reality existing everywhere…………

In Salvatore Malorgio's work numerous linearities are consolidated, from whose characteristic the condition formally summarizing of what comes and palpitates is mainly allusive, in a procedure where the expressive synthesis is apparent, with conditioned syllogisms or from the progressive and elegant tonality. Just following this extremely beautiful but not common phenomenon, the work of art of the artist Salvatore Malorgio assumes with vivacity the concrete and expressive characteristic for whose meditative instants even the sometimes veiled emotions of an answer insinuate, from whose iconographical structure , the demonstration is historical, fit to proceed in direction of a clear imitation, since the evolution of the interpretative idea remains tangible.

The artistic expression of Malorgio is expressed in a stubborn pictorial narration, devoted to the description of the well embellished surrounding reality from a excellent technique.  That are the premises inherent Salvatore Malorgio’s works. Worthy representative painter of that particular realism that results repellent to the futile aesthetical beauty rather brought to the nudity of the surrounding elements.

The intensity of Salvatore Malorgio’s works underlines his great love for what he creates painting: real worlds though imagined, worlds nostalgically reminded as memory of his childhood.
It is the nostalgia itself that gives the tone to the entire work and creates an atmosphere of veiled and tormenting melancholy. However his art is never sad, it even reflects positive energy. His dark brush-strokes thicken the colours instead of drawing the lines, in order to create a dramatic and dynamic very significant effect .
Salvatore Malorgio achieves a happy alliance between the Italian realist tradition and his own
personal expressionism, which makes him an artist with the unmistakable gift of “storyteller”.

In front of Salvatore Malorgio’s works, everybody remains astonished by the great incisiveness of their message. A continuous invite to think, with profundity, about the meaning of human life, about the mystery and the reasons which make it so precious, so various, so unique. His tonal alphabet and the great faithfulness of drawing come from a long pictorial and compositional search which affects the sense of beauty present in each one of us. Aesthetical pleasure and spur for mind, together with touching luminosity , well conciliated with what he has painted. Art is also one of the main communication codes’ forms of human being, and its didactic and “soul-stimulating” function, once again reveals itself overbearing to everyone of us, accompanying us in new and fruitful emotional paths.

Mediterranean solarity populates the works of Salvatore Malorgio, imbued in a palette that makes the sign his assistant in describing the pictorial narrative. Salvatore Malorgio is a skilled painting of a verist linked to the past. A past made of harmony, nature, landscape, a man we often seek as we are immersed in a gray era and lacking in simplicity.

Malorgio Salvatore , in this brief, is the writer and for the first time "" Malò "" I do not want to be just an observer of his works, but I want to go in and out with the artist. Malò through the vibration of his being unable to find in his works that hard times are the mirror as you look through the colors that bring in universal enveloping warm emotions, such as to take him prisoner. When he began to paint, the colors are in the spotlight on musician-painter solfeggios that always plays the "Music", his music, the truth of his life, too often filled with the notes of his ego and perhaps did not realize that the doors were painted by serene rainbows. Thus the vibrations of color in his work led him to a reality too real to be dreamed of, so the teacher " Malò " filters all chromatism gradations of high everyday life. No need to praise him, is already good and is aware that his works need of sparkling colors of light that radiates from the scenes of peace and life. The skill and mastery in the use of brushes is such as to transform its work in light colored butterflies which hover on the hands and eyes of the observer by transmitting a synergy of positive and negative light, fruit and testimony of his past life and tormented that that will melt in the continuing search for a universal peace. He expresses a diversity of form and composition of color, in scenes that are rooted in a proud past with a modesty dense and meaningful. His way of making art, research and interpretation was yesterday, today, is the language carefully tied to life. I venture to remind him that "'in the veins of the painters, instead of blood flowing color.

All the artistic production of the painter Salvatore Malorgio is a joyful hymn addressed to the beauty of nature and its Creator, but also mysterious man and his extraordinary and unique adventure on earth. From the look of the elderly, the slit eye rests on the world around him and grasps emotions and memories, the majesty of the lush landscapes of the North, with a harmonious dynamism of the naked tangled compositions inspired epic, where the color, as due to a natural ferment inside, burst with shiny vehemently from every pore of the canvas from the sacredness of the famous biblical events to the humble contemporary stories of poverty and marginalization, all in the painting of Malorgio is a poem, by whose verses are emitted intense feelings most noble and sincere emotions of the soul which is capable of. The chromatic data bursts now dense and vibrant colors to translate the concerns of daily life, now ethereal pearly tones that recall distant atmospheres where the dreams live.

One of the essential ingredients of artistic expression lies precisely in charismatic magic to transform ordinary scenes of a modest world, common, customary, in a universal vision, one that is independent of the time. The first pictorial experiences of Malorgio show typical rural views, the result of a careful study of the landscape in all seasons and in all its aspects, seen through an artist's eye, almost orphic song that rises spontaneously in honor of the nature . Also in this first period are also born the paintings are not mere representations of physiognomy, but manifestations of interiority and character, psychological studies defined by the liveliness of the eyes and expression. The force of inspiration of the Master Malorgio lies in this function minimal but essential, unique of his painting technique. The first time you approach to his work, one is struck, because it turns out the variety and originality of the suggestive power of his paintings. The artist knows how to find by an intimate scene, a sylvan landscape or a face dramatic, the first beat on the relationship between the man with the world. Each design incorporates a drama, a mystery, an enigma, even the evocation of a consciousness in pain and suffering in its fragile existence. The artist was fascinated by a post-impressionism of the early twentieth century, so as to make the data of human reality and landscape in the essentiality of shapes and colors. Not infrequently in the landscape also refers to the deepest emotions and creative. Henri Bergson often alluded to this concept liable to release the inspiration of the act fruitful. The emotion that motivates us to strengthen the autonomy of art, thanks to a bundle of inner passions that encourage us to transform our perceptions of a set of shapes, colors, lines, perspectives, volumes forming the basis of the work of 'art. The regular drafts color reminiscent of the changes in large impressionist masters which foreshadow abstraction with stunning effects of the whole. In the evolution of the work of Malorgio, the line becomes more relaxed, the color is whiter, even softer, with the effects of romantic nostalgia. Painting, as Salvatore Malorgio ago, is not only an outburst of the soul, it became even second nature. The striking color contrasts inaugurate the unique character of the people who reach the sphere of universal representation using the representation of a mythical symbolism. The painter of Salento collects in his paintings the mood of our lands, observing from a distance but also fixing their ferment closely. In his paintings the sparse autumn leaves flying like butterflies under the whim of the wind in an improvised movement worthy of a ballet by Maurice Béjart. The framework crystallizes the vibrant fabric of a breath, a breath, a universe in a perpetual modulation. In the symbiosis of engineer and artist is a tangle of signs beneath which hides the heartbeat of life. Painting for Malorgio-at least so I think looking at his paintings-is not just a simple communication of emotion secret of seeing: it is a plunge into the moods of nature, an unusual journey, as a scholar who analyzes the scientific side and the emotional: Plonger au fond du gouffre, Enfer ou Ciel, qu'importe? Au fond de l'Inconnu pour trouver du nouveau! (Baudelaire, Le voyage). The Savior humanist 's "honnête homme" Montaigne, reaches Malorgio scientist in a constant jeweler's meticulousness. The looseness of touch blends with the knowledge to make the reflection of a light almost unreal. The painter of Tuglie does not hesitate to give us that "something more" that defines the singular masterpiece, original, virgin. The act of painting of Malorgio turn the page of the past and move towards a new practice, an experiment supreme, more intense. It feels like the friendly nature is transfused to the canvas under the caress of the brush Malorgio immediately seizing the essence of reality. The color spots lying to rule craft turn into volumes, colors, perspective, shading, lighting, backlight, corners, structures, mosaics of forms, to become, ultimately, creation, communication, expression, pure lyricism of magic realism . With reference to the testimony of the portraits malorgiani, we can not ignore the legacy of its origins. The presence of the farmer in Salento, evoked time and again, clear evidence suggests that Salvatore does not forget, can not forget, can not forget his roots are well sunk in those country lanes paths many years ago in childhood casual . The farmer pathetic, real, estate, sitting on a stone secular, the man who remains silent for so many days, his eyes lost the abyss of its existence, the country boy from his face wrinkled, toothless, the country prepared by Malorgio laughs little, I feel bitter, resigned under the blows of destiny ungrateful, a land not very generous, an harsh environment . The farmer mentioned between the different paintings, exhausted from work in the fields, which devours even the soul, bows his head and turns his gaze to the sky to query the time. With regard to women of Salento, they are subjugated by two thousand years of silence, solitude and devotion. In these characters express the nobility and the pain, the pain of struggling in vain against social immobility and the weight of tradition. In another context, some paintings such as "People of the street", "screw stray" or "When the survival prevails dignity" urge us to reflect on the fate of the marginalized, the forgotten, the abandoned, "Other", with usual victims of a desperate life: children. The portrait is a vital component in the production of Malorgio that maintains a current value, carving out a space independent of the stylistic renewal that came asserting itself over the years. For the artist from Puglia, misery, suffering and deprivation become art bright, conceptual, symbolic bridge between life and destiny. Sharp eye of the master Malorgio is fixed on every detail, every attitude, every move, every blink of an eye. The paintings can also be seen as indirect social criticism, deep moral reflection and mirror of our times in this adventure of the human factor, the lightness of being. The ethical dimension becomes aesthetics, art is the representation of a good reason, but the beautiful representation of a pattern. In this technique, the portrait color tones create the immensity of the ocean in the eyes of a child. The starting point is always the reference to an impression, a sensation, a feeling, turned into coloring graph. The sign malorgiano breaks and essentializes, operating the shift to a more lucid reality where we note the presence of an absence, function sine qua non of the artwork. The color of Malorgio does not extend to large backgrounds, is characterized by brushstrokes and delicate touches that characterize the image, set in 'eternal moment, but do not define it clearly and with precise contours and boundaries and the gradations on vibrate surface and transmit light. I invite all the amateurs of pictorial art, innovative and attractive to motivate to reconsider the complete works of Salvatore Malorgio like a symphony of colors, make an eloquent contemporary undeniable genius.

Great artist because of large capacity and quality , as a painter and graphic feeling and profession , not one of the many makeshift authors of works strange and incomprehensible , but a character whose production is informed by a vision of the real painting, one from enjoy hanging in the living room . Salvatore Malorgio paints with his choice driven by the desire to find and communicate beauty. Extensive its theme from the landscape to the figure, the latter treated by the memory of customs and folklore of Salento until the sacred and mythological , but always there when you notice the burst of a joyous song of love, faith and knowledge. Instrument of this song is the ability draughtsmanship innate and acquired by Salvatore Malorgio that puts its mark on the creation of an atmosphere in harmony with its reality also made of deeds , dreams, and interpretations of long experience in the field that have made it a true artist in a continuous and trusting finding. A pure line but also staff in certain attitudes and certain countenances , all , for this reason, legitimate and conducted in terms of art in the name of an emotion genuinely poetic and idealized . Nature and destiny, means and ends are accompanied by a unique creative fury that knows how to keep passionate having acquired its own ethical rigor , and its own line art .

There is always a touch of emotion in seeing the works of Salvatore Malorgio, but there is also a lot of beauty. There is the sure sign of the great artist capable of resolving with pleasure the suggestions of a possible real, transferring the daily truth in a peaceful walk through the various phases of life. From children to mothers up to the elderly, from still life to animals. There is always a mute presence in these works, that of an animal, a devoted assistant. Verses of a poem the color is intertwined with the design of a wide-ranging cadenced and in the whole is enclosed the deeply emotional vision that the painter gives us in a natural and spontaneous way. It is the painting of Salvatore Malorgio who paints the world and finds the eager discovery of love, he paints the most generous world, without the fable of great riches. There is no exaltation but direct knowledge and everything is identified on the rigorous thread of daily action, because it is in the authentic, in the truth, that Salvatore Malorgio addresses his language that discovers in natural the reason of man. A path that the artist has been supporting for some time, with personal presences and exhibitions, affirming the defense and the appreciation of the original on the sophistication and the false settings that smuggle for art, incredible fashions, how passer-by.

When we ask what is the true poetry in a pictorial representation, our response can not only be the world's farmers. Observing for example the painting "Scene of rural life - 2013," the scene of his grandfather intent to work with her granddaughter beside, has something ancient and exciting. The compositional play is that of an artist scholar who knows how to start a painting and how to complete it, as in this case respecting the rules of expression.
Paolo Levi - art critic, journalist and essayist

It is a cultured painter, heir of the late nineteenth century Italian verismo. The excitement stems from the immediate brightness and well-balanced by the predominance of natural light colors that play a happy chromatic counterpoint with green, a symbol of our country and its farmers.

Stefania Bison – editor and art critic

A glimpse of everyday life. Comparison of two generations. The new-looking "old". A pictorial composition by the great lyrical narrative and symbolic. Behind the painting of the Salvatore Malorgio always harbors a deep meaning, sometimes latent and sometimes more obvious. The technical skill that characterizes the art of Malorgio seems to find photographic references in both colors in setting perspective of what that represents. It seems that his painting remains so without touching the hiper-realism but reclining on a veiled pictorial realism. Again the Master confirms the excellence its artistic value and also score between these artists who make a significant contribution to contemporary art.

Sandro Serradifalco - critic, essayist and publisher

In the painting "Scene of rural life - 2013," a little girl looks a senior and performs work that now is outdated and past. A dog joins the child in a corner, and in a moment the work is tinged with a bit 'of melancholy, one that leaves though, with a smile. Even in this Malorgio not forget the human side. A Master of Art of sophisticated style and high emotional narrating with breathtaking colors and lights, slice of daily life and not. A teacher who puts his artistic soul bare in all its web and let it be observed and absorbed by those who are in front of them.

" Scenes of everyday life peasant ", Past ... ..this think! And here's the art in help us memory to remember and not to repudiate this "past" made of lessons for the future, treasure chest of valuable experience. And 'the art, that of Malorgio, one of the most important painters on the scene of the figurative - realist who still have in Italy. He claims this culture of ancient crafts, animal friends, calm atmosphere, the characters who lived the dignity and love. In the tonal values of his scores resolves pleasant effect the daily reality, carefully enunciating the various characters in their appearance work, social, domestic. Painting mirror and document the past. But not all, Salvatore Malorgio, also paints figures today, landscapes, still life, nude. Master of drawing and color it draws us into its themes all these Mediterranean touches of poetry, sinuous, with the atmosphere of faith. A painter full from authentic values, as if they are not many today, with works full of magic of light and color.
